Scanned text detection

Visible text is detected automatically when each page opens. Use Redetect visible text only when you want to rerun detection. Detection runs in your browser and may take longer on phones.

Exact font embedding

Arial, Calibri, Century Gothic, Times New Roman and other office-font presets are available immediately. For exact PDF embedding, allow access to installed fonts in a supported browser or load a licensed TTF/OTF file. Otherwise a compatible standard PDF font is embedded.

Text replacement mode

Native PDF mode is selected automatically for genuine PDF text and renders the replacement with the PDF.js-loaded font face when available. Scan Replace is reserved for scanned or flattened pages.

Scan removal area

If old scanned lettering remains as a shadow, choose Extra wide. The editor clears a larger area around the detected glyphs before inserting the replacement.

Used only in Cover mode. Scan Replace reconstructs the local background automatically; Overlay leaves the original pixels untouched.

For scanned documents, Scan Replace removes the visible original lettering by reconstructing the selected raster area before inserting new text. Results are strongest on flat or lightly textured backgrounds; complex photos and patterns may still need manual touch-up.
